Perth Steampunk Ball

Last week I attended the Perth Steampunk Ball at Government House Ballroom and had a grand evening.

"Sounds lovely", you say, "but what is that all about?"
Well, old sport, here's what Wikipedia has to say on the subject...
Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery, especially in a setting inspired by industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century.
Basically, it is an excuse to get dressed up in Victorian finery combined with brass and/or glowing or flashing attachments.

The ball was a great opportunity to catch up with fellow steampunk enthusiasts, browse the artisanal themed wares and partake in a cup of tea, as well as a G&T or two.
Musical amusement was provided by the Belleville Quartet and DJ Gigavolt while VJ Zoo provided suitably themed visuals.

The Government House Ballroom, Perth is unique amongst Australia's Government Houses in that it is available for hire. The Ballroom, built in 1899, has been the scene of many grand occasions such as receptions, balls for visiting Royalty, and Investitures by The Queen and Governors. A Supper Room of the same dimensions as the Ballroom is located downstairs, and was the location of the merchants, art display and tea dispensary. We were even treated to a visit by the Governor General.
